Darn Tough Vermont Hiker 1/4 Sock Cushion – Review

Vermont Darn Tough Hiker 1/4 Sock CushionOne of my passions is bowhunting in the backcountry.

Being a flat lander, one of the best ways for me to get my legs and lungs prepared for the Rocky Mountains is trail running.

On one of my stints on the Appalachian Trail, I struck up a conversation with a couple at the Bears Den and we were discussing gear, adventures that we have been on and were planning to do.

During the gear chat, they recommended that I give the  Darn Tough Vermont Hiker 1/4 Sock Cushion a go on my trail runs.

Generally speaking, most hiking socks are very thick, so I was a hesitant to say the least. But, I logged on to darntough.com and ordered up a pair of Darn Tough Vermont Hiker 1/4 Sock Cushion socks. This would be my first pair of Darn Tough Vermont socks. While I have heard great things from this company, I just never made any purchases from them.

I started out using the socks on some quick 3-5 mile hikes near the house. The socks performed very well, as the sock did not slip, provided ample cushion without the bulk of most hiking socks and kept my feet dry and cool.

Features:
• Guaranteed for life
• High density cushioning on foot bottom

After 7 months of wearing them on hikes, trail runs, trail races, I would recommend this sock in runs during any season including summer and winter. As the sock is made with all magical Merino Wool, which not only naturally is antimicrobial, it also keeps your feet warm when the temps are low and your feet cool when the temps are warm.
