Members Sought for Washington Master Hunter Advisory Group

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW)OLYMPIA – The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is accepting letters of interest through Nov. 30 for membership on the department’s Master Hunter Advisory Group (MHAG).

The group, which represents master hunters statewide, advises WDFW on issues and opportunities affecting master hunters and the Master Hunter Permit Program (MHPP).

Six volunteer positions will be opening on the 15-member group early next year. Five appointed members will serve three-year terms, and one will serve a one-year term. All appointees must retain their certification status during their entire term. [Read more…]

New ALASKA Bowhunter Education Certification Requirement

Alaska Board of GameThe Alaska Board of Game recently passed a regulation stating that, “Bowhunters in hunts restricted to archery only must carry their IBEP or equivalent department approved certification card on them while archery hunting in the field, and must show their card to peace officers and department employees upon request. Beginning July 1, 2016, all big game hunters using archery will be required to have successfully completed a department approved certification course. Currently, this is required if the hunt is restricted to archery only.” [Read more…]
