Hello Everyone!

We wanted to let you all know of a very exciting event we will be doing in Bozeman, MT on March 2nd. Event details are as follows.

Can We Bear the Bias?: An Expert’s Take on Grizzly Bear Conservation

The Right to Roam Podcast and Western Bear Foundation have partnered in an effort to shed more light on past and present grizzly bear conservation and research.

We will be hosting a live event with an expert panel that can put the facts in front of the general public. The forum is titled “Can We Bear the Bias?- An Expert’s Take on Grizzly Bear Conservation” and will be mediated by Right to Roam’s Chris Sheets (Professional Wildlife Biologist). Our live event will take an in-depth look at grizzly bear conservation in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. The five-person expert panel includes representatives from USFWS, Wyoming Game and Fish, and Montana’s Wildlife, Fish and Parks and the Inter-agency Grizzly Bear Committee.

The panel members will participate in an objective discussion that will articulate the life/natural histories of the species. In addition, we would like to spend the bulk of the conversation covering the history of management and legal status as well as the current threats to the species, empirical evidence gleaned from past and current research, as well as the management implications and methodologies associated with the iconic species. There will also be an opportunity for audience Q & A with our panel.

In addition, there will be a special guest speaker named Shane Mahoney of the well-established Conservation Visions organization. Shane is one of the most recognized voices in North American conservation and is considered a leading authority on the North American Model of Conservation. In addition, he has had a long and varied career as a research biologist and conservation communicator.

Our intent is not to push a specific agenda or policy at this event, although we do want there to be room for discussion among our panel members as constructive questioning among peers can lead to new insights. The overarching goal is to get the facts in the hands of the public en masse.

We fully expect this event to sell out so if you can purchase your tickets early we recommend doing so.
